A fine pair of scrimshawed sperm whale’s teeth engraved with four portraits; Justo José de Urquiza and Delores Costa to the obverse and two as yet unidentified sitters to the reverse. Finely drawn and retaining much of the original polychrome decoration. American mid 19th century. 6 inches high.
Justo José de Urquiza was an Argentine general and politician becoming president of the Argentine Confederation in 1854 until 1860.
